The Wonder of Words

We know how difficult it can be for us as adults to learn a new language. Yet children manage to acquire, with effortless joy, whatever language they are immersed in – whether it is English, Japanese or Russian. How are children able to do this? And what experiences can we offer them to help nurture their natural love for language, and their joy in communicating with others?

The subject of this evening’s talk is the beauty of language, the extraordinary abilities children are born with that help them acquire language, and what we can do to support them as they do this great work.
