AGM Notice

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the Montessori Society AMI (UK) will be held on Wednesday, 11th June at PAX Lodge, Olave Centre, 12c Lyndhurst Road, London NW3 5PQ

at 6.00 for 6.20 until 8.30 (Refreshments provided)

For some, Montessori brings to mind the proud independence of a child succeeding ‘by myself’.  Others with older children may marvel at their dreams of icy planets or Pythagoras.  And those of us who know Montessori adolescents are touched by their confidence in themselves and their compassion for others.  Three stages of life, three different environments – but what brings it all together?  Is there a golden thread that weaves through?

The child herself links these planes as she grows year by year, emerging from infancy to childhood and then transformed by the great changes of puberty.  The linear growth and evolution is easy to see, but Montessori uniquely observed that the adolescent is not just connected by their recent childhood, but it also powerfully linked to their much earlier years of infancy.

How can this be?  What does the thirteen year old have in common with the thirteen month old or the sixteen year old with a six year old?  And if there is such a link, what can we learn from our time with our infant child that will help us meet his needs over a decade later?

The speaker will be Paul Pillai from The Montessori Place, Brighton.
