Montessori & ‘Flow’
20th March 2012 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Growing up in Hungary during World War II, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (pronounced ‘cheek-sent-me-high-ee’) was confronted with the utter inability of the adults around him to cope with the tragedy of violence of that scale. It started him on a journey to find out what made life meaningful for people. This has become Professor Csikszentmihalyi’s life’s work, and at age 78 he is known as the ‘Father of Positive Psychology’. He has studied tens of thousands of people from all walks of life – athletes, musicians, business executives, artists, shepherds in the Navajo and school children.
Over the course of several decades, Professor Csikszentmihalyi came to one conclusion: that all human beings, not matter what they are doing, feel most satisfied when they are in what he called ‘a state of flow’. Experiences that support a state of flow have 7 characteristics in common. To find out what these are, and how they relate to Montessori education, come along on the 20th of March at 7pm !
